Ephs and ephrins during early stages of chick embryogenesis Dev Dyn. 2003 Sep;228(1):128-42. | Copyright | 2003 Wiley-Liss, Inc. | Comments | EphrinA2 transcripts are present throughout the mesoderm (as determined from sectioned embryos, not shown) during stages 4-7; during this period, low levels of transcripts are also present in the primitive streak (Fig. 1A-C). Between stages 7 and 12, ephrinA2 is strongly expressed throughout the neurogenic ectoderm, particularly in the posterior half of the mesencephalon (the prospective midbrain). After stage 7, ephrinA2 expression continues in the head mesenchyme and cardiogenic mesoderm but is down-regulated in the mesoderm posterior to the heart-forming region. |
